Gee, What is Blu From DLR Listening to This Week?
By Blu Fernandez Have you ever wondered “Gee, I sure wonder what Blu from DLR is listening to this week?” Probably not, but here are my favorites from this week anyway. This is my favorite song, album, and artist I’m listening to this week. Song: Girl From The North Country by Bob Dylan and Johnny Cash This song is a beautiful folk/country song from ol’ Bobby and Johnny, who had a pretty good friendship in the late 60s. Their voices bounce back and forth on this song, with Bob’s gritty voice and Johnny’s deep tone. I drove up to Red Rocks this weekend to go on a hike and this was a perfect accompanying song. On my way back I decided to take......
Lynx Live 2024
By Lucie Donovan On the evening of April 25th, 2024, Meow Wolf was abuzz with excitement as CU Denver students converged, eager for a night of live music and immersive experiences. The air crackled with anticipation as they flooded the venue, drawn by the promise of captivating performances from student bands Tireshoe and Fiamoré, setting the stage for headliner Hailey Knox. The night held more than just music; it was a full sensory experience. Attendees were treated to an array of delights, from music to merch and even giveaways, ensuring there was something for everyone. Tireshoe, a student favorite, played a set featuring fan favorites from their debut EP “LEAVE YOUR......

By Lucie Donovan In the mountains of southern Colorado sits the picturesque town of Weston, where 5,000+ attendees will gather to hear 20+ artists take the stage of Caveman Music Festival throughout Labor Day weekend (8/30, 8/31, 9/1). Picture yourself under the open sky, surrounded by the majestic peaks of the Sangre de Cristo mountains, with music filling the air and a community of music lovers gathered together for a weekend of pure bliss. The Caveman Music Festival offers not just a lineup of incredible artists, but also a chance to connect with nature, fellow music enthusiasts, and the vibrant culture of southern Colorado. Monument Lake Resort hosts the festival, and......
Windows Down, Zöe Coz On
By Lucie Donovan On April 17th, 2024, Globe Hall welcomed singer-songwriter Zöe Coz in support of folk-pop artist John-Robert. Guitar in hands and friends Kennady MacDonald, Haley Milonas, and Caleb Rockenbach, accompanying her, Coz came with a serene, yet vibrant energy. With a stage presence that reflects her musical style, Coz’s indie-folk music has a tranquil but danceable nature, accurately pointed out by listeners as reminiscent of Neil Young’s “Harvest Moon.” With her first single “9 to 5” released, Coz has marked her entrance into the music scene with a blend of captivating lyrics and infectious rhythms. PC: Nat Maul @3cpics “I......
Soundscaper, Vibe Curator, Festival Veteran: Maddy O’Neal
By Lucie Donovan In light of the upcoming Sol Fest festival in Ponce de Leon, Florida, Denver Lynx Radio had the opportunity to chat with Denver based artist, Maddy O’Neal. Originally a Saint Louis native (Kirkwood High School graduate, for Saint Louisans wondering the obvious question), O’Neal was raised surrounded by music. “My dad was in bands, my brother was in bands, and I dabbled.” She says, recounting her early music exposure. While music entered her life at a young age, O’Neal did not lean heavily into music until later. “You know, I played piano, then I played cello when I was younger. Then I kind of did the sibling thing, I was like......
"God Said 'Let There Be Spitting Image'"
By Lucy Lassman “Originally, there was no light and then God said let there be Spitting Image.” This was the band’s answer to my first question which asked for an explanation of how Spitting Image came to be. A quick-witted response that incited laughter between me and the band’s members: Marshall Kadlec, Ethan Piskorz, Jesse Nissen, and Davion Tomlinson, later proved to be an accurate statement after watching the band’s electrifying performance on stage. The show took place on March 29th, at HQ, one of the various music venues in the eclectic area that is South Broadway. Boasting a Spring Break theme, the space was brimming with pink beach balls and......
Bandmates, Friendship, and Creating Together with Blackberry Pyper, Exhaler, and Audrey Riggs.
By Lucy Lassman Contrary to popular belief, the University of Denver and the University of Colorado Denver are two different institutions. However, on the evening of February 29th, it would be impossible to distinguish the two schools. CU and DU students came together at Glob, with a lineup featuring the best bands of both schools. Blackberry Pyper, Audrey Riggs and her band, as well as Exhaler and Surprise Soup, put on a hell of a show, proving just how talented college bands can be, and to never underestimate the complexities and creativity of the adolescent mind. First up was Blackberry Pyper, who got the ball rolling with power. They produced a stellar set, with incredible......
THE DRAWN OUT
By Annie Bennet The Marquis Theater is bathed in blues and greens as eager concert-goers mill around the room. The doors have only been open for fifteen minutes, but the floor is already beginning to fill up; every table is taken, every barstool occupied. As I take in the sights, sounds, and smells of the concert venue, I’m approached by two beautiful young women–they are Mackenzie and Cassidy Harlan, respectively the songwriter and lead singer of local alternative band The Drawn Out. It’s them I’m here to see as they patiently await their opening set for The Snuts. I follow them through a labyrinth of back halls and stage equipment that leads me to a small but......

poptropicaslutz! The Hyperpunk Duo Creating Community With Their Fanbase By Syrena Hjelmgren Last Saturday, poptropicaslutz! took the stage at Mission Ballroom to open for Waterparks alongside LOVELESS. poptropicaslutz!, commonly abbreviated to pts!, is a hyperpunk duo out of Long Island that incorporates 2000’s nostalgia in their upbeat music. pts! is no stranger to the Denver music scene. Last year the band toured through the city twice. First with their headlining The Truth is in The Glitter tour and second with Magnolia Parks in November. Upon entering the cavernous ballroom, a brightly illuminated PTS sign stood on center stage. Excited fans immediately began snapping......
